Guide/Import, Export & Backups

Import, Export & Backups

MetaGrid Pro can move content in two different ways.

  • Import / Export / Share moves one item, such as a profile, workspace, grid, button, macro, fader, label, XY Controller, pad, gesture pad, or color palette.
  • Back Up / Restore moves your entire MetaGrid Pro database. Restoring a backup replaces your current data.

If you only want to copy one grid or one profile from another user, use Import / Export / Share. Use Back Up / Restore only when you want to save or recover everything.

Where to Start

Profiles, Workspaces, and Grids

Open the Content Manager. You can get there from the dashboard by tapping the profile name in the top bar, then choosing Content Manager. In Edit Mode, you can also tap Content.

Inside the Content Manager, use the Profiles, Workspaces, or Grids section. Each section has import and export/share controls for that type of content.

Buttons, Macros, Faders, Labels, Pads, and Other Objects

Enter Edit Mode, select the object you want to configure, then open its editor. Use the editor's Import button to load compatible content into the selected object, or the Share / Export button to send that object out.

For example, to import a button file, select the button you want to replace or configure, open the Button editor, tap Import, then choose where to import from.

Backups

Go to Settings > Data Management > Backups & Restore. Use Back Up to create a full backup file. Use Restore to restore from a backup file.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • If no files appear, make sure you are importing from the correct item type. For example, .mgrid files appear under grid import, not profile import.
  • If a cloud service is missing, open Settings > Cloud Services and check that the service is visible and connected.
  • If Shared is empty, open the file again from Files, AirDrop, Mail, or the app that received it, then choose MetaGrid Pro.
  • If restore feels too destructive, export the specific profile, workspace, or grid instead of restoring a full backup.
