Cubase: PLE & Scene Macros
Project Logical Editor (PLE) macros control track visibility in Cubase — show or hide track folders based on your project structure. The MetaGrid Pro integration ships scene templates you customize for your own projects.
Install the PLE Presets via MetaServer
Step 1: Open MetaServer
Open MetaServer → Integrations → Cubase (or Nuendo).
Step 2: Install Project Logical Editor Presets
In the Integration Components card, find the PLE / LE Presets section. Click Install on the Project Logical Editor presets row.
MetaServer writes the scene templates into Cubase's user-presets location for every detected Cubase version. The row turns green once installation finishes.
Step 3: Verify in Cubase
Open Cubase and go to Project → Project Logical Editor → Setup. A User Presets category should appear containing a MetaGrid folder with Scene001–Scene017 and other macros.
Important: Scene macros are already handled by Metasystem2.xml. You do not need to assign them in the Generic Remote.
Customize a Scene Macro
The scene presets are templates with a placeholder folder name. Customize each one for your project.
Step 1: Open a Scene Preset
Go to Project → Project Logical Editor → Setup. Expand User Presets and select Scene001.
Step 2: Set the Folder Name
In the Event Target Filters section, find the row where the Name field shows --- your folder ---. Replace it with the actual track folder name in your project (e.g., "Vocals").
Step 3: Apply
Click Apply. The macro now shows/hides tracks in that folder.
Trigger a Scene from MetaGrid Pro
Step 1: Create a Button
Add a button in MetaGrid Pro and create a macro with a Cubase action.
Step 2: Select the Scene
In the action selector, navigate to the MetaGrid: Scenes category. Select the scene number matching the one you configured (e.g., Scene001).
Show Only One Folder
To show a folder and hide everything else, chain 2 actions in a single macro:
- MetaGrid: Scenes → - Hide All — hides all tracks
- Add a Pause action (0.40 seconds)
- MetaGrid: Scenes → Scene001 — shows the target folder
The pause gives Cubase time to process the hide command before the show command executes.
