Digital Performer

Digital Performer

Description

Integrates with Digital Performer via a custom .dpkeybind file that maps MetaServer's MIDI messages to DP commands across 46 menu categories.

Setup

Digital Performer integration uses a dedicated keybindings file. MetaServer hands you the file; you import it into DP from the Commands window. On Mac, you can also use the Menu Command action for any menu item.

Download the Key Bindings via MetaServer

Step 1: Open MetaServer

Open MetaServer → Integrations → Digital Performer.

Step 2: Download the Key Bindings

In the Integration Components card, click Download key bindings. MetaServer copies Metasystem_DP_key_bindings.dpkeybind to your Downloads folder and reveals it in Finder.

Import the Key Bindings File into DP

Step 1: Open Commands in DP

In Digital Performer, go to Setup → Commands.

Step 2: Import

In the Commands window, click the mini menu in the upper-right corner. Select Import Key Bindings… and choose Metasystem_DP_key_bindings.dpkeybind from your Downloads folder.

Step 3: Resolve Conflicts

The Binding Conflict dialog appears. Click Both to keep your existing shortcuts and add the MetaSystem MIDI bindings alongside them.

The keybindings file does not overwrite any default DP keyboard shortcuts. It only adds MIDI assignments routed through MetaServer's Metasystem - DP - In port.

Enable MIDI Masters

Confirm that all items in the MIDI Masters section of the Commands window are checked. This allows MetaServer to control DP.

Using Layouts

DP's predefined viewset includes a Layouts scene with 40 buttons. DP does not have built-in layout selection commands, but MetaGrid Pro adds a dedicated Layouts category with pre-assigned MIDI messages.

To use them, open the Commands window in DP and assign each layout button to the corresponding MIDI message from the Layouts category.

Important: Windows users must name the LoopMIDI port exactly METASYSTEM - DP - IN. This name is hard-coded in the keybindings file.

The Menu Command action gives direct access to every Digital Performer menu item without MIDI configuration.
