REAPER

Description

Integrates with REAPER via a custom keymap that adds 382 macro slots — "Custom: MG Macro 1" through "Custom: MG Macro 382" — each assignable to any REAPER action.

Setup

REAPER integration uses a keymap file that creates 382 custom macros mapped to MIDI messages from MetaServer. MetaServer hands you the keymap; you import it into REAPER from the Action List. On Mac, you can also use the Menu Command action.

Configure the MIDI Port

Step 1: Open Preferences

In REAPER, go to Options → Preferences → Audio → MIDI Devices.

Step 2: Enable the MetaSystem Port

Click Metasystem - Reaper - In in the MIDI inputs list. Check the Control column checkbox to enable it for control messages.

Step 3: Enable Generic MIDI (Optional)

If you want to send MIDI notes and CC messages from MetaGrid Pro to REAPER tracks, click Metasystem - MIDI - In and check the Enable column.

Step 4: Confirm

Click OK.

Download the Keymap via MetaServer

Step 1: Open MetaServer

Open MetaServer → Integrations → REAPER.

Step 2: Download the Keymap

In the Integration Components card, click Download keymap. MetaServer copies the Metasystem keymap file to your Downloads folder and reveals it in Finder.

Import the Keymap into REAPER

Step 1: Open the Action List

Go to Actions → Show Action List.

Step 2: Open the Keymap Import

Click the Key map… button. Select Import shortcuts/custom actions, ignore other sections…

Step 3: Select the File

Pick the Metasystem keymap file from your Downloads folder. Click OK.

REAPER's Action List now contains 382 custom macros (named "Custom: MG Macro 1" through "Custom: MG Macro 382").

Customize a Macro

Each custom macro contains a placeholder action ("Action: Wait 0.1 seconds before next action"). Replace it with your own actions:

Step 1: Select and Edit

In the Action List, select a macro (e.g., "Custom: MG Macro 5"). Click Edit action…

Step 2: Remove the Placeholder

Select the placeholder action in the right pane. Click Remove action.

Step 3: Add Your Actions

Drag any action from the left pane into the right pane. Click OK.

Menu Commands (Mac Only)

The Menu Command action gives direct access to every REAPER menu item without MIDI configuration.
