Grid & Scene Access
MetaGrid Pro offers several ways to switch grids and scenes: keyboard shortcuts, dynamic focus tracking, Logic Pro integration, and MIDI CC messages.
Switch Scenes with Keyboard Shortcuts
Assign keyboard shortcuts on your computer to control scene navigation in MetaGrid Pro.
Step 1: Enable Keyboard Shortcuts in MetaGrid Pro
Tap the profile icon, go to Settings > Automation & Scripting, and enable Enable Computer Keyboard Shortcuts.
Step 2: Record Shortcuts in MetaServer
On your computer, open MetaServer and select Setup > Key Shortcuts. Press the square button to record each shortcut.
You can assign shortcuts to:
- Switch to a specific scene
- Navigate to the previous or next scene
- Toggle between primary and secondary scenes
- Access the OmniSpace profile
Dynamic Focus Tracking
Dynamic Focus Tracking automatically switches grids or scenes based on the active window title or area within an application.
Example: Display a Grid for a Specific Web Page
Step 1: Enable Focus Tracking
Go to Settings > Automation & Scripting and enable Dynamic Focus Tracking.
Step 2: Configure a Grid Trigger
In the Content Manager, find the grid under the relevant profile. Swipe left on the grid and tap Edit. Expand the Dynamic Focus Tracking section, tap Paste Title, and adjust the match string as needed.
This also works for scenes. When you navigate to a matching window or page, MetaGrid Pro switches to the configured grid or scene automatically.
Logic Pro Integration
Dynamic Focus Tracking provides deeper integration with Logic Pro by recognizing specific areas of the application.
Step 1: Enable Logic Pro Tracking
In Settings > Automation & Scripting, enable Logic Pro: Selected Area/Window.
Step 2: Assign a Logic Pro Area
During grid or scene editing, select the relevant Logic Pro area in the Dynamic Focus Tracking section.
Step 3: Set Track-Specific Grid Changes (Optional)
In the Dynamic Focus Tracking section, enter the track name to trigger a grid change when that track is selected.
Important: Area and track-specific grid switching is currently available only for Logic Pro on Mac. Track-specific grid switching is also available for Cubase/Nuendo with the MIDI Remote setup.
MIDI CC Message-Based Grid Display
MetaGrid Pro can switch grids or scenes in response to incoming MIDI CC messages from your DAW or virtual instruments.
Step 1: Open the Grid or Scene Editor
Access the editor for the grid or scene you want to trigger.
Step 2: Configure the MIDI CC Trigger
Expand the Display On Incoming MIDI CC section. Specify the MIDI CC parameter, value, and channel, then toggle the switch to On.
Important: The MIDI message must route through the MetaServer - MIDI port for MetaGrid Pro to receive it.
