Universal Grids
MetaGrid Pro provides 2 ways to reuse a grid across multiple profiles: copy-paste and the Common Grids profile. Choose based on whether you need a one-time copy or a shared, centrally managed grid.
Method 1: Copy and Paste a Grid
Use this when you need a grid in 1 other profile and do not need the copies to stay in sync.
Step 1: Copy the Grid
In the Content Manager, navigate to the grid you want to copy. Tap the menu button and select Copy, or swipe left on the grid and choose Copy.
Step 2: Paste into Another Profile
Navigate to the target profile, swipe left on a grid slot, and tap Paste.
Each pasted copy is independent. Changes to one copy do not affect others.
Method 2: Use the Common Grids Profile
The Common Grids profile is a shared container. Any grid placed here can be linked to scenes and buttons in all other profiles. Edits to a Common Grid apply everywhere it is used.
How It Works
- The Common Grids profile does not appear in the profile list on the dashboard. It is managed through the Content Manager.
- Grids from the Common Grids profile are prefixed with [C] for identification.
- Any profile can reference a Common Grid in its scenes or button actions.
Example: A Universal Fader Grid
Place a fader grid controlling standard CC parameters in the Common Grids profile. Every profile that references it gets the same grid without separate maintenance.
Pre-Configured Common Grids
MetaGrid Pro includes 2 pre-configured common grids available across all default Mac application profiles:
- Emoji Grid: Provides a selection of frequently used emojis for quick insertion.
- Text Edit Grid: Includes controls for common text editing functions.
These grids can be added to any additional profiles you create.
When to Use Each Method
Copy-paste works for one-off use where independent copies are acceptable. Common Grids is better for grids you want to maintain in 1 place and use across many profiles.
