TURN YOUR IPHONE INTO A GESTURE-BASED REMOTE CONTROLLER FOR ANY APPLICATION ON YOUR MAC/PC
IMMERSIVE INTERACTION
Metapad reacts to your touch with visual, aural and haptic feedback. Finger taps and movements are visualised with beautiful hi-tech animations. Each action triggered by the recognised gesture can be accompanied by futuristic sounds (optional), and on certain actions (pan gestures for example) you can feel your phone gently vibrate under your fingers. This ensures tactile, immersive and efficient interaction with your desktop/laptop application.
INTUITIVE
GESTURES
Metapad recognizes tap, double tap, pan and swipe gestures with six different finger layouts. When you perform a supported gesture, Metapad recognises it and displays the respective information in the top left corner of the touch pad presenting the gesture type (as an icon in the large circle) and finger layout (smaller circles).
COMPREHENSIVE FEEDBACK
Each gesture in Metapad can trigger a macro consisting of one or more actions. When you perform a supported gesture with an assigned macro, you can see the respective action blocks in the top section of the screen. This way you always know what actions are triggered on your computer when you perform a gesture on Metapad.
PREDEFINED WORKSPACES
Cubase, Logic Pro X, Studio One, Ableton Live, Final Cut, Sketch, Xcode and more.
WORKSPACES
Metapad can control any application on your Mac/PC. You can create dedicate workspaces for your favourite apps or/and use the predefined workspaces for popular apps as the starting point for your custom gesture sets.
OMNI SPACE
The global Omni Space workspace enables you to “overwrite” the gesture assignment for particular applications and trigger a specific action like a global keyboard shortcut for windows re-arrangment or application/file launching.
4 COLOR-CODED GESTURE LAYERS
Metagrid offers 4 colour-coded gesture layers for each application on your Mac/PC. They are activated with long press gestures with one (red layer), two (green layer) and three fingers (orange layer), which are accompanied with distinctive haptic feedback. To go back to the default (blue) layer perform the same long press gesture or perform the long press gesture with two fingers spread apart. This functionality enables you to use gestures in different context with your application - for example one layer for DAW transport, another for CC controllers etc. Metapad remembers layer selection for each app and sets the last selected layer for the given application upon app-in-focus change on your computer!
DROPBOX
EXPORT/IMPORT
You can easily export/import gesture set and actions to Dropbox for backup or to share your custom sets with other users. Thanks auto sync option all the changes to your workspaces, gesture sets and actions are automatically propagated on all your iPhones with Metapad with auto sync option enabled.
GESTURE SET PREVIEW
The Gesture Set Preview screen in Metapad enables you to quickly see the gestures you have configured for your favourite application and quickly modify their assignments.
TAP. PAN. SWIPE.
PRECISE GESTURE RECOGNITION
Our #1 priority while designing Metapad was to make it as reliable and precise as possible. Fancy gestures or user customisable finger movements would make the gesture recognition error prone and unreliable. Therefore, Metapad supports tap, double tap, pan and swipe gestures, which gives 60 gestures per one layer, and 240 gestures in total for one application on your computer.
CONFIGURABLE
SENSITIVITY
Pan gestures in Metapad are extremely useful - you can use them to control transport-related functions in timeline-based editors like DAW and video editing applications. You can also use them as pseudo-faders sending MIDI CC messages. While panning you can feel haptic feedback on each command trigger. For greater precision, there are 5 sensitivity settings for every pan gestures, which enables you to set the interval value between each command trigger.
DEEP INTEGRATION
WITH POPULAR DAW SOFTWARE
ACTIONS
Metapad enables you to preform various actions in your favourite applications on Mac/PC. You can trigger keyboard shortcuts or paste predefined text chunks. Metapad offers MIDI support for outgoing CC, PC and Note On messages, which is very useful for controlling your DAW application. Metapad features advanced integration with popular DAW software enabling you to access thousands of DAW-specific commands right on your iPhone.
MACROS
Actions can be combined into multi-step macros that can automate complex action sequences in your favourite applications. Each macro step can be separated with Pause action that delays triggering the following action by the specified time. Macros can be imported/exported from Dropbox.
MIDI STEP ACTION
Metapad offers a unique MIDI CC Step action that enables you to use pan gestures as pseudo faders and send MIDI CC messages with increasing or decreasing values. You can define a constant step, e.g. +/-1 or you can specify set of specific values (like 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 127). What’s more, Metapad receives the feedback from your DAW for the CCs used by the CC Step action and adjust its starting value to reflect the current parameter setting in your DAW. Moreover, you can assign multiple CC Step actions to a gesture, which means you can simultanously control several MIDI CC values with one gesture! The current values are displayed on Metapad’s touch pad.
EXPANDABILITY
You can connect up to 4 iOS devices with Metapad to one computer with Metaserver. Metapad is also a great companion for Metagrid - our iPad grid-based controller. With Metapad on your iPhone and Metgrid on iPad, you get a powerful and ultra-flexible duo that will cover most of your controller needs.
FLEXIBILITY
FOCUS
Metapad automatically detects the application in focus on your computer and displays dedicated viewsets, ensuring seamless transitions between programs you work with. You are no longer limited to one application-specific controller - quite on the contrary, Metapad is a touchpad on steroids that can control any application available on your computer.
APP-LOCK MODE
You can use app lock functionality to control your application even if it is in the background. It is particularly useful in multi-iPad setups - with one iPad locked for example to a DAW application, and another one dynamically detecting the change of application in focus on your computer.
WIFI/USB
Metapad can communicate with your computer through WiFi and/or USB. The wireless connectivity option enables you to place your iPhone in any location in your studio and control your application right from your piano, mic booth or console away from the computer. The USB connection on the other hand ensures minimal latency and enables you to conveniently charge your iOS device while working.
